What's a vegan to do when she has 90 mins until her flight leaves and didn't eat any dinner? Check out the nearby restaurants for vegan options.

Just my luck, every restaurant near my gate has nothing appealing beyond a salad. But LA Roadhouse Route 66 was the only place that would customize a salad the way I want it. At least that's what my friendly server, Octavio, said.

While every salad on the menu contained ingredients that came from an animal, I ordered the one that seemed most appealing after they took away the bacon, chicken, and cheese. It had black beans, corn, avocado and pico de gallo on iceberg lettuce. For dressing I asked for lemon and salsa.

Since I asked for no bacon, chicken, or cheese on my salad, Octavio proactively asked the cooks give extra avocado. I didn't even ask! :)

Not the greatest salad and the salsa was horrible. But the service was nice.

Wonderful diner-style food here. The menu is relatively large and offers breakfast, lunch and dinner.

I stopped in during a layover to New Orleans. I ordered the scramble classic ($9.50), which included scrambled eggs, applewood bacon or sausage patties, sourdough bread and fresh seasonal fruit. All food is served on styrofoam plates with plastic utensils.

The absolute best place to get the chewiest, oldest calamari in town!

If you need a new rubber band, hair tie or bracelet these calamari will do the trick.

I do feel bad that they're way out in nowhere's-ville at the end of the United 80 terminal though. I mean, they only see a handful of people every couple of hours so how fresh can the food really be?

I spend some time in airports, and their restaurants generally leave a lot to be desired. So, with with the L.A. Roadhouse, I've decided to start a list of airport restaurant reviews.

This one, not so good. Nice, but over- worked servers bringing out way over- priced diner food. Spent around $25 for a Bass Ale and chicken quesadilla. Have also had a margarita and chicken something salad, again for around $25. The marg was mediocre sweet/sour mix-based. The salad was decent, but yet again, way over-priced, even for airport food.

My advice: choose your airport cuisine more wisely.

This is the only sit down restaurant in this terminal, so you have limited choices.

I will keep this one simple.  You have seen the reviews, you know what you are going to get.  expensive but below average food, cramped spaces, spotty service.  Welcome to airport food.

Our server (missed her name) was on her game.  Highlight of the visit.

Beware, they only cook burgers medium well (huh?), which make the suck even more.  I went with the standard, industrial chicken tenders, so I at least knew exactly what I was going to get.
